Carl Gustav Jung coined the terms “Anima and Animus” a century ago, in the early 1920’s. To date much has been written, discussed, and debated about these two concepts. Those interested in Jungian psychology know that integrating the Anima and Animus (the syzygy) or The Sacred Marriage, is an essential aspect of the Jungian individuation journey. But what does this actually mean? This course explores the concepts of the Anima and Animus in depth, as they are conceptually difficult to grasp and challenging to understand. One of the main reasons for this confusion is that the Anima and Animus are both Complex and Archetype. This course offers a phenomenological and experiential approach, which is a profound and effective way to not only grasp but integrate Jungian theory.

Fee: U$250 single payment or U$100 per month (3 months payment plan)

What Does The Course Focus On?

The focus of this course is the practical application of Anima and Animus theory in your own psychological being and interpersonal relationships. This course will take you through the journey of integrating the Anima and Animus, not only as part of the shadow work process, but also sharing the concepts of the archetypal aspects of Anima and Animus so that you have an understanding of the ultimate goal of integration. The five key areas of focus are:

01   ANIMA AND ANIMUS AS

        COMPLEX:

         Exploring interpersonal aspects

 

02   DYSFUNCTIONAL ANIMA AND

        ANIMUS:

         Identifying personal maladaptations

 

03   ANIMA AND ANIMUS AS

        ARCHETYPES:

         Exploring archetypal functions

 

04   ANIMA AND ANIMUS AS

        INFERIOR FUNCTION:

         Unconscious qualities

 

05   ANIMA AND ANIMUS IN

        ALCHEMY:

         Alchemical work of The Sacred Marriage

Who Is This Course For?

This course is for anyone who wants to:

  • Understand how Anima & Animus act in the psyche.
  • Get an overview of the complete Anima & Animus theory.
  • Actively work with their Anima & Animus.
  • Learn the practical techniques of integrating the Anima & Animus.

How Does The Course Work?

The Sacred Marriage is an online programme, runs over 10 weeks, starting on the 7th of October 2024. The course includes both elements of working through the material on your own, as well as interacting with others on the course on a private and confidential Facebook Forum. There will be one webinar at the beginning of the course which will be recorded and made available to view. All learning material is delivered via email to download onto your PC or tablet and consists of a podcast and PDF reading material.

At the beginning of each week you will receive the weeks material, as both a podcast and transcript, focusing on one of the five respective elements we will be covering on the course. Group work and guidance with the applications are facilitated on a private and confidential Facebook Forum. The Facebook Forum is optional, but please note that you will miss out on the shared experience of the community and facilitation.

I have enjoyed this program so much, personally, it has had its challenges which have also been instructional and initiated a deeper reflection and inquiry.

The timing for my entering this study is so apt, it has been exactly what I needed at this stage of my journey. I have struggled with the animus for a long time. For years I have studied the usual materials/books etc. but this approach to working within a group discussion of like fellow journeyers has brought about an alchemical state or condition that has helped me integrate the animus, hopefully, at least not get caught in its mischief. Thank you to the facilitators and my fellow global cohort.

I haven’t managed to look into the application yet for the last module and need more time but wanted to show my gratitude for the wonderful facilitation and insights on this course and the last. How to put into words what this course has meant to me, let me try. I have taken courses and gone on retreats, and even been on amazing trips and they have all changed my life, some more than others. This experience is different. It has quietly pulled together many many loose ends that have been dangling, like an unidentified plant on the walls of my life, Important, beautiful, interesting just not named. Sometimes I didn’t even know they all belonged together. It was done so quietly, gently and calmly you had to pay attention, or you didn’t notice. The results it was just meant to be. Like a puzzle fitting back together. Like putting one foot in front of the other and looking down and finding you have the most striking red shoes on.
